The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced in July of last year that SHINE has been nominated for outstanding main title design for their work on Standoff, a one hour drama produced by FOX Television. FOX Television and Craig Silerverstein selected Shine, the Hollywood design agency, to conceptualize, design, and produce the main title sequence for STANDOFF, a one hour drama, now in it’s first second on FOX, starring Ron Livingston.
The title sequence uses dimensional environments to set up the story of the FBI crisis negotiators. The talent was composited into each graphic shot, creating a dramatic, cinematic sequence. Shine shot the talent against green screen and then integrated the characters into each graphic environment using 2D and 3D tools.
The concept, created by Shine, was designed to fulfill the producers desire to communicate to their audience the complex relationships between the FBI negotiators and the hostage takers, as well as relationships between the main characters.

I was very fortunate to be able to jump right onto Standoff from the QWEST campaign. For the Standoff main titles I worked in conjunction with the animator Dan Meehan. My recent editorial work on the main titles for Blade: The Series have aided my proficiency in working closely with animation and incorporating graphics into a project workflow, so I was up to the challenge. The hard work put into the Standoff title has earned us a nomination for last year's Emmy in Outstanding Main Title Design. Pretty cool.
