National Commercial Campaign
2006
The QWEST “Sand” television campaign was highlighted in the 2007 CA Annual. Advertising agency McKinney selected SHINE to direct three thirty-second spots for telecom giant Qwest. Shine directs artist Ilana Yahav to create sand paintings on an illuminated, backlit surface. Magical transitions from one image to the next served as metaphors for the campaign.
The sand paintings provide evocative imagery for this campaign.

The QWEST ad campaign marks my first mainstream commercial project. Though I had worked on the Franke commercial earlier that year, working with the ad agency representatives from McKinney proved to be an invaluable experience. I had a front row seat and watched the process unfold from the ground up.
